This chapter has no summary.
See Packing Charm.
Incantation: Pack. Light: None.
Causes a group of items to pack themselves into a trunk or other container.
Source(s): Canon.
See Multi-Shot Jinx.
See Mending Charm.
Incantation: Nonlegituro.
Effect: Seamlessly seals parchment. The intended recipient can open the parchment with a tap of their wand. If torn open, that shape becomes the parchment's new form and a Mending Charm will not return it to its original form.
Variability: It is possible to leave a watermark on the parchment as well.
Source(s): Hogwarts is Here and Witchcraft & Wizardry.
Incantation: Lacero.
Effect: Cuts parchment or paper into small strips or slivers.
Variability: Specific shapes are also possible.
Other information: Quicker and more efficient than the Severing Charm, but only works on very thin objects. Using this spell on thicker material will usually just inflict a few shallow cuts on the surface or edge.
Source(s): Hogwarts is Here.
Incantation: Partis Temporus.
Effect: Parts, or creates a gap in, the target.
Other information: This works best on less substantial or tangible substances, like air, water, or fire, while loose soil is more difficult, gravel harder, and so on.
Source(s): Canon, with some elaboration.
Incantation: Expecto Patronum.
Effect: Conjures a silvery projection, either as a mist (incorporeal) or the distinct shape of a beast (corporeal).
Other information: Patronuses have both substance and temperature. Contrary to popular misconception, evil people are perfectly capable of producing Patronuses, even strong Patronuses (see Umbridge's Patronus in DH, which "glowed brightly"). The type of happiness required for the Patronus is special: it is linked to a feeling of security and/or connected to other people (cf. Blood Crest), and/or to a feeling of sorrow (cf. TNER).
Source(s): Canon, with significant elaboration from Blood Crest (ch. 58), by Cauchy, and The Never-ending Road (ch. 20), by Laventadorn.
See Parting Charm.
See Knit-Up Charm.
Incantation: Caluspiri. Light: Orange.
Effect: Causes the target to have hot, or even fiery, breath.
Other information: This spell is a hex because it doesn’t confer any resistance to the heat or fire, making it painful or even physically harmful.
Source(s): Canon, with some elaboration from Witchcraft & Wizardry and myself.
See Feather-light Charm.
See Spark-Spitting Charm.
See Hiccough-curing Charm.
Incantation: Unknown.
Sticks one thing to another thing.
Source(s): Canon.
Incantation: Incanteficus Commeabilitum.
Effect: The target object becomes intangible under certain conditions or for certain types of things, e.g. "intangible from dawn till dusk" or "intangible to objects moving at or above a certain speed."
Variability: Greater precision permits conditions of greater complexity. It is possible to permit the passage of any person or object that does not fit the criteria but is accompanied by one who does.
Other information: This spell may need to be interwoven with other enchantments in order to register whether the specified conditions have been met.
Source(s): Canon, with some elaboration from Hogwarts is Here and myself.
See Referencing Charm.
Incantation: Remordeo.
Effect: Bewitches small objects to follow and harss a designated target.
Source(s): Witchcraft & Wizardry.
See Full Body-Release Charm.
See Full Body-Bind Curse.
Incantation: Furnunculus. Taught in: 3rd year Charms.
Effect: Causes the target to break out in pimples or boils.
Source(s): Canon.
Incantation: Unknown.
Effect: Hastens the growth of the target plant, typically by a couple of months.
Source(s): Witchcraft & Wizardry.
Incantation: [X] Phantastico.
Effect: Conveys the sensation of a nonexistent body part, as specified by the full incantation.
Other information: Typically used in conjunction with a prosthetic replacement to help someone adjust to the long-term or permanent loss of a body part. The formula Brackium Phantastico specifies the arm. See Appendix A: Pendants, for more about anatomical formulas.
Source(s): The Removal of Masks (ch. 4), by myself.
See Four-Point Charm.
See Lock-breaking Charm.
Incantation: Portus. Light: Blue.
Effect: Makes the object into a Portkey, which will transport anyone who is touching it, to a particular location, under a particular condition.
Source(s): Canon.
See Portkey-making Charm.
Incantation: Subvectio.
Effect: Identifies a residence or container as a Post Drop, recognizable from a great distance by Post Owls who are looking for the right place to deposit letters and packages.
Variability: The charm can be attuned to specific owls or types of post, or to designate a specific address for delivery without specifying a recipient.
Other information: Instructions for this charm can be found in a Ministry of Magic pamphlet.
Source(s): Witchcraft & Wizardry.
See Anti-Apparition Charm.
See Reverse Spell.
Incantation: Lucem Divisit.
Effect: Separates light into its component colors.
Source(s): Hogwarts is Here.
Incantation: Proteus. Taught in: 7th year Charms.
Effect: Establishes a link between several identical or near-identical enchanted objects, so that if one object (the "master" or "king") changes, the others ("slaves" or "barons") change to match it.
Variability: It is possible to specify a minor effect (like mild heat) that triggers when the slaves or barons change, or to make all of the objects into master-slaves/king-barons, so that any of the objects may be altered and force that alteration upon the others.
Other information: It is possible that the Dark Mark incorporates this charm. Objects can typically be part of just one Protean Charm network at a time, and subsequent castings will dispel earlier castings. Competent wixes can typically enslave or baronize three to six objects at a time, but great care and an investment of time can increase this limit.
Source(s): Canon, with elaboration from Witchcraft & Wizardry and myself.

See Protean Charm.
See Somnambulist Charm.
See Sweeping Charm.
See Dishwashing Charm.
Incantation: Unknown.
Effect: Causes pus to squirt from the target’s nose.
